Shivam P

Shivam's path has not been without difficulties. His father had a serious brain stroke two years ago, leaving him unemployed and unable to maintain the family. In the aftermath of the catastrophe, Shivam's mother became the sole earner, working as a chef for six separate families to make ends meet. Despite his challenging circumstances, Shivam continues to pursue his studies.

He recently completed his first year of a diploma program at ABC Engineering College, located in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh. Shivam has shown a particular interest and talent in computer engineering, excelling in programming in C Lab, where he earned an A+ grade. His passion for technology drives him to learn and improve his skills constantly. Looking ahead, Shivam has big plans for his future. He dreams of pursuing a B.Tech. Degree and eventually specializing in web development abroad. His goal is to work for one of the world’s top companies as a web developer, a career he believes will not only help him achieve personal success but also enable him to support his family financially.

Shivam is deeply committed to his education and is ready to devote as much time as necessary to reach his goals. Unfortunately, the financial commitment to continuing his education is significant for his family. Shivam's annual fees amount to INR 31,000, a sum his family cannot afford.

This year, they reached out to Making A Difference through our Education Sponsorship Program. After doing the due diligence as per our process, we began to look for sponsors. While this took a while, his college gave him a warning that he wouldn’t be allowed to write the exams, as no his entire fee remained pending. Our team got together to seek sponsors in fast track mode with all hands on deck. Finally one of our generous sponsors came to forward sponsor his fees. By now, we had just the night to us and the next morning was his exam.

The sponsor even shared a personalised note for Shivam. It read “Whatever has happened in the past let it be bygone. I hope you put a little more effort and study hard to get good grades. There is a wonderful world out there and we need the best people from our country”.

We called Shivam and informed him to prepare to reach for the exam a little earlier and our team worked overnight to ensure his fees were paid and he was allowed to sit for the exam. Despite the financial obstacles, Shivam’s determination remained unwavering. We all breathed a sigh of relief.

Shivam understands the importance of education for his personal growth and the impact it can have on his family's future. In his own words, "Education is essential for every student. It is important to me because I have a goal to work for the world’s No. 1 company as a web developer. I have to fulfill my goals, so education is most important to me. With better education, we get more respect. If I am educated, I can be a backer to my family and help them financially." Supporting Shivam in his educational journey will help him achieve his aspirations and provide his family with much-needed financial relief.
